On Thursday June 11th, 2009, 2:30 pm in Mayor Virg Bernero’s Office, the Mayor and Chief Mark Alley held a press conference where they accepted a gracious cash donation of $42,000 for the HOPE scholarship program from Rita F. Stoskopf, President of the Joe D. Pentecost Foundation.

“The first class of HOPE scholars are currently attending Lansing Community College.  With this continued support from organizations like the Joe D. Pentecost Foundation future HOPE scholars will be awarded the same,” says Chief Mark Alley.

“This donation is an example of the continued community support that Lansing students are becoming accustomed to through the HOPE scholarship program,” says Mayor Virg Bernero.

The HOPE Scholarship fund guarantees two years of college at Lansing Community College to any HOPE Scholar that graduates from high school.
