9-1-1 Emergency Communications Technician I
Salary: $33,509 - $44,470/yr
Requirements Include: THIS POSITION IS TO ESTABLISH A ROSTER OF ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES FOR FUTURE VACANCIES.
This position requires a High School Diploma or GED. Prior criminal justice or public safety dispatching experience or training preferred. No criminal record. This is a 24 hour operation which may require mandatory overtime and work on a non-traditional shift. An extensive background investigation will be conducted with regard to the successful applicant's work record and activities. Interested applicants must go to Michigan Works Service Center located on S. Cedar Street and request the City of Lansing Data Entry Test. Attach your results to a completed City of Lansing Employment Application. Candidates who pass the Data Entry Test will have 30 wpm with 90% accuracy or 35 wpm with 80% accuracy indicated on the Data Entry Test results sheet. Submit all materials to the City of Lansing Department of Human Resources. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis.

Part-time Principal Clerk II 25 (2 Vacancies)
Salary: $13.81/hr.
Requirements Include: Special Requirements for this position are that the applicant placed be able to be bonded under the terms of the City's blanket bond, therefore, applicants cannot have committed any dishonest acts, before or after placement in the position. Applicants must authorize the release of any information from appropriate agencies regarding the applicants criminal history and be bondable in order to be referred for consideration.
This position requires a High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of diversified office clerical experience which include the use of word processing and spreadsheet and database software; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Applicants must be able to type 45 wpm. Knowledge of English grammar. Knowledge of general office procedures and practices. Knowledge of the City of Lansing?s Housing Code. Skill in the use of word processing, spreadsheet and various software databases. Skill in meeting deadlines with minimal supervision. Must possess skills in customer service. Skill in composing routine letters and memoranda. Ability to perform research and prepare various reports as directed. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other City employees, outside governmental agencies, and the general public. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to work under pressure and maintain proper telephone etiquette. Ability to retain and dispense confidential information. Must be dependable and possess a good work record.
This position requires walking, standing, sitting, talking, hearing, lifting, carrying, bending, finger dexterity and/or feeling, and visual acuity.
