The Assessor's office is responsible for identifying, valuing and maintaining records for all taxable property within the City of Lansing.  The Assessor's Office will help you with questions regarding how your property was assessed, the Homestead Exemption and Property Transfer Affidavits. They also process ownership and address changes as well as parcel splits for your property.  The Assessor's office can also help business owners with questions regarding the assessment of Personal Property taxes.

The Treasurer's office is responsible for the collection of Real and Personal Property Tax.  We can tell you how much your taxes are, if the taxes have been paid and whether your property has the Homestead Exemption.  

We can give you information needed for the Michigan Property Tax credit (taxable value and school district code).  You can find payment information, taxable value, history of sales prices and other property tax information on-line.   Click on the Property Tax link to learn how to pay your property taxes on-line or through the telephone.

The Income Tax office is responsible for the collection and auditing of Income Tax returns for both City of Lansing Resident, Non-Residents and Businesses.  We also collect Employer Withholding of income tax for businesses.

Treasury

The Treasury office is responsible for collection of all revenue and remittances to the City and oversee the depositing and safekeeping of City funds, monies and securities. We also receive payments of special assessments, nuisance fees, diversion program fees and trash cart payments.  We also disperse subpoena reimbursements for court appearances.  These functions are done in a responsible manner as to maximize financial resources available to meet the needs of the City and its citizens.
