Drop-Off Program

The drop-off site is located in front of the Lansing Recycling Transfer Station, 530 E. South St. at the corner of South and Beech. (Follow S. Washington Ave. to South St., which is located just north of the railroad tracks. (South St. runs UNDER the Cedar St. viaduct). The materials accepted at the drop-off site are listed below.

  • Corrugated Cardboard/Boxboard
    Corrugated cardboard is a layered cardboard with a wavy middle layer. Please break down all boxes.  Boxboard includes thin, lightweight containers used to package various items including cereal, cookie and crackers.  Boxes that were meant to be stored in the refrigerator or freezer, such as frozen entrees and cases of pop are coated and therefore not accepted.  Please remove any plastic liners before recycling.
  • Mixed Paper/Junk Mail
    Mixed paper is almost anything that comes inside a mail box; including: junk mail, flyers, envelopes (windows okay), office paper, letterhead, magazines and catalogs, colored paper, stationery and shredded paper. 
  • Newspapers (including inserts)
  • Telephone Books
    No bundling required. Please no magazines, catalogs or other paper. Remove plastic before recycling phone books. 
  •  Cell Phones
    Bring to the Capital Area Recycling and Trash office between 8-4, M-Th, located at 601 E. South St., second floor
  • Rechargeable Batteries  
    Bring to the Capital Area Recycling and Trash office, between 8am-4pm, M-Th, 601 E. South St., 2nd floor. 
  • Compact Flourescent Lightbulbs - Bring to the Capital Area Recycling & Trash office, between 8am-4pm, M-Th, 601 E. South St., 2nd floor.  More information at: www.recyclethatcfl.com
